It's time to make your health and happiness non-negotiable.
Yoga is my touchstone
It guides how I move, what’s on my mind and what’s on my plate; and it’s grown with my needs over decades.
Whether in my 20s when it helped me get over the guilt I had from my mother’s suicide or in my 30s learning to take a pause and breathe before I lost my cool with two kids under two, or now in my 40s learning to accept each situation that can’t be changed as it is. I’ve figured out what works to get happy, strong and calm, and I can’t wait to share small, actionable, daily steps that will help YOU create health and happiness.
I stumbled upon yoga while producing a fitness video for MTV. As a hard core runner I never thought about flexibility, but the first time I stepped on the mat changed all that. Yoga allowed me to stop and breathe….probably for the first time in my life. The physical practice made my body feel great, but more important was the effect learning to be still had on my mental health.
When I turned 40, I realized that my regular yoga on the mat wasn’t cutting it anymore; I loved my morning meditation practice, but things weren’t feeling as tight, and I needed to build muscle and bone density.
I had no interest in going back to the gym, so I incorporated light weights into my vinyasa flow and watched my body change immediately. This inspired me to develop Xen Strength Yoga with Weights and create a modern twist on yoga that truly met my own needs, but also those of my clients.
I’ve been a contributor to Yahoo Beauty and The Huffington Post. I’ve been featured in Bobbi Brown’s Pretty Powerful campaign, on YogaVibes and YogaDownload, on the Today Show and Dr. Oz, and in Shape, Self, and Yoga Journal online. I’ve also taught at A-list wellness events hosted by Wellthily, Gurney’s Inn and Yoga Journal, and I speak about wellness in the workplace at corporations such as Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. I also train teachers globally in my method, and guide students through my Xen Strength 28-Day program, online.
When I’m not flowing on my mat, meditating, or sitting on the sidelines watching my boys, you can find me leading retreats in Italy, searching out the perfect gelato cone.
