Join Danielle Diamond and Alison Campbell for a week of living La Vita Bella in Umbria, Italy.
Each day will be filled with invigorating yoga and meditation classes, practical conversation on how to live your yoga off the mat, optional hiking, swimming, hot-tubbing and more!
Welcome to Locanda del Gallo, a country house bed and breakfast located in the peaceful Umbria hills between Gubbio and Perugia.
The Locanda sits atop the magnificent hills of Umbria’s unspoiled Italian countryside,
making this the ideal place to retreat, discover, and revitalize your spirit. Enjoy a swim in the pool overlooking vast olive groves, relax in the hot tub or steam room, and enjoy classes in the hilltop glass barn.
This luxury, boutique hotel accommodation is immersed in nature.
Simple and elegant, the charming rooms at the Locanda have exquisite reclaimed doors and carved hardwood furniture from Bali and Indonesia, soft cotton bedding, plush comforters and an at-home feeling.
Prominently situated on a ridge which stretches into the center of the valley, The Locanda del Gallo commands fine views over its 28 hectares of gardens, terraced lawns and woodland.
Stroll at your leisure through the olive grove, inhale the scent of roses and herbs, or simply curl up with a book under the shade of the old elm tree.
The gardens hold many hidden gems and secret corners for you to discover. In one, an ecological chlorine-free swimming pool, encircled by comfortable sun loungers and close by the sybaritic delight of an outdoor Jacuzzi whirlpool spa.
Or descend a few steps and enter the small Moorish style spa, let your tensions slip away in the Turkish bath and then immerse yourself in a cloud of cool, refreshing, mint scented water, before heading for the peace of the salon overlooking the verdant landscape to sip a tisane, or read a book, or revive yourself under the hands of our masseuse.
All rooms have large windows that open up to stunning views of the Umbrian hillside.
You'll enjoy three delicious, organic meals a day - some straight from the garden.
Traditional Italian food served with a healthy, modern twist.
Plus - just look at that view from the yoga room!
Danielle teaches an alignment-based vinyasa class with a focus on the breath and taking your practice to your edge. Whether you're a beginner or seasoned yogi, you'll feel supported and challenged with different levels of modifications in each class.
Ali teaches a more grounding, slow flow with a focus on alignment and being connected to the breath in each movement. You'll love holding poses longer, getting a deeper stretch here, especially after hiking those Umbrian hills.
Each day includes dynamic classes, in a glass barn overlooking the Umbrian hills.
Danielle will deepen your understanding of yoga through asana, pranayama, meditation, and philosophy incorporated in each class.

She teaches at events in NYC for Yoga Journal and more. You may have seen her on The Today Show, Yoga Journal.com, or Dr. Oz.
Ali Campbell has been practicing yoga for many years and understood the mind/body connection early on, as an athlete. She became a certified yoga teacher after the birth of her 2nd child, and studied anatomy extensively with Amy Matthews of The Breathing Project, NYC. Her journey through yoga and life has led her to quieter practices to find restoration and rejuvenation. She is informed by her many teachers, including Jillian Pransky. She considers Italy her heart home and lived in Rome for two years while teaching at the American School of Rome. She is indebted to her gurus: Luca, Evie and Cody, and her loving partner, Ryan.

Travel to Umbria
Our retreat begins Sunday April 28th with dinner and ends on Saturday May 4th, after breakfast. Check out time is at noon. If you are coming from the States, purchase International tickets to either Rome, Florence or Perugia (via Milan or London). Perugia is the closest airport to Locanda. We recommend checking both options to see which gets you the best fare. We advise to use websites such as Travelocity to search flights and car rentals. Remember, because of the time difference, you must fly the day before.
To Perugia If you fly to Perugia via Milan or London, it is more direct, and the Perugia airport is only 25 minutes from Locanda Del Gallo. However, the final leg (Milan-Perugia) can cost more, though not necessarily, so it is best to check. The cost of a cab from the airport is approximately 45 Euros one-way.
To Rome or Florence. ( About the same distance) If you choose to fly to Rome or Florence, there are three ways to get to Perugia/Locanda. You can rent a car (or go in on a rental with another retreat participant) and it is about a 2.5 hour drive to Locanda. You can also take a bus or a train to Perugia. Perugia’s main train station is Stazione Centrale. Check out rail schedules. The Italian State Railway Representative in the USA is 1-800-248-7245. The cost of a cab from the the bus stop/train station is approximately $50 one-way. Once the retreat is filled we recommend you connect with another participant and travel with them from the airport- you can also rent a car with a few others.
Depending on where everyone is flying into we may rent a van to bring everyone if we can coordinate the arrival times. If so it would be an additional cost of around $75 for travel.
